How do I find a therapist in The GTA?
Enter a therapist’s name, city, or postal code in the search bar. You can further filter by cost, insurance, gender, and more to find the right fit.
Are all therapists listed licensed?
Most are credentialed by professional associations (e.g., CCPA for counsellors/psychotherapists, provincial colleges for psychologists and social workers). Verified providers are marked with a “Verified” symbol.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, therapist, and counsellor?
  • Psychologists: Master’s/PhD, can diagnose and provide therapy.
  • Counsellors/Psychotherapists: Master’s/PhD in counselling or related fields, certified by associations.
  • Social Workers: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Social Work, licensed provincially.

All can provide talk therapy.

Which type of therapy is right for me?
It depends on your needs, timeline, and preferences. Some therapies are structured and short-term; others are open-ended. Many people benefit from more than one approach.
How much does therapy cost?
Typically $120–$190 per session for individual in Canada. Insurance may reduce costs, depending on your plan and provider.
Are there low-cost options?
Yes. Some therapists offer sliding scale fees, group therapy, or publicly funded services (coverage varies by province).
Is online therapy cheaper?
Often it costs the same as in-person therapy, though it may save travel costs. Apps or text-based options are usually cheaper but may be less effective and rarely covered by insurance.
Does online therapy work?
Yes—studies show it can be as effective as in-person therapy if there’s a good client–therapist connection.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Therapists must keep sessions private, except in cases of legal obligation (e.g., risk of harm, court order). These exceptions are explained at the first session.
